The Identity of Moroccan Immigrants and the Question of Cultural Difference in the German Context: A Sociological Study A Review of Majda Bouazza's Book
Main Article Content
Abstract
The book The Identity of Moroccan Migrants and the Question of Cultural Difference in the German Context: A Sociological Study by Magda Bouazza explores the dynamics of Moroccan migrant identity in Germany, focusing on the interplay between religion, language, gender, and public policies. The author argues that identity is not fixed but a continuous process shaped through interaction with the host society. The study highlights the dual challenges faced by Moroccan women and the crucial role of language in maintaining or transforming cultural belonging. Using a qualitative approach based on interviews, the book offers deep insights into migrants’ lived experiences. Despite some methodological and comparative limitations, it stands as a significant contribution to migration and identity studies, particularly for shedding light on the underexplored German context.
