The Identity of Moroccan Migrants and the Question of Cultural Difference in the German Context A Review of Majda Bouazza's Book
Main Article Content
Abstract
This review examines Majda Bouazza’s The Identity of Moroccan Migrants and the Question of Cultural Difference in the German Context, a sociological study that explores the construction and negotiation of Moroccan migrant identity in Germany. Situating identity as a dynamic and relational process, the book analyzes migration history, gender roles, religion, language, and public policies shaping belonging and difference. Drawing on qualitative fieldwork, it highlights the central role of women and language in identity formation, while assessing the impact of media and political discourse. Despite some methodological and comparative limitations, the study makes a valuable contribution to migration and identity research in a largely underexplored European context.
